My Path to the Alexander Technique
I discovered the Alexander Technique when I was looking for solutions to chronic tension that affected my performance work. What I found was more than a technique — it was a complete shift in how I understood myself.
I trained at the Alexander Technique Training Center (ATTC) in Newton, MA, becoming a certified teacher recognized by the American Society for the Alexander Technique (M.AmSAT). Since then, I've helped hundreds of clients — from Berklee musicians to MIT researchers, from new mothers to trial lawyers — discover the ease that comes from working with the body instead of against it.
Published Researcher
I co-authored a peer-reviewed research paper on the Alexander Technique for chronic pain and frailty prevention in older adults. Published in the Explore journal and indexed in PubMed, co-authored with Dr. Misha Kogan, Founder of GW Center for Integrative Medicine.
Expanding into Somatic Experiencing
Over years of teaching Alexander Technique, I noticed something important: some clients had physical patterns that didn't respond to postural work alone. Their bodies were braced against something deeper — old stress, unprocessed experiences, tension held in the tissues.
This led me to train in Somatic Experiencing (SE), a body-based approach to healing stress and regulating the nervous system. SE gave me new tools to help clients whose physical tension had emotional roots, and whose nervous systems needed to settle before lasting change could happen.
Somatic Experiencing Training
I have completed SE II (Intermediate Level) training in Somatic Experiencing, which deepened my understanding of the physiological basis of trauma and stress, and how the nervous system responds to overwhelming or prolonged experiences.
This training emphasized working with body-based sensation, developing strong stabilization and regulation skills, and learning to track subtle autonomic shifts that signal safety, activation, or settling. I also gained experience supporting clients impacted by a wide range of stressors and traumatic experiences, always with a focus on pacing, safety, and restoring a sense of choice and resilience in the body.
This ongoing training continues to inform how I meet each client — with care, precision, and respect for the body's natural capacity to heal. I am currently working toward full SEP certification, expected in 2026.
My Approach Today
I see the body as a whole system — physical, emotional, and neurological. When you work with me, we address whatever is most alive for you:
- If you come with back pain, we might work with posture and movement
- If you come with anxiety, we might work with your nervous system
- If your pain and stress are intertwined, we work with both
I meet you where you are. I follow what your body needs. And I trust in your innate capacity to heal.
